Session 6 – 4 Weeks Post-quit
This session is very important as it is the 4-week follow-up session. This session will include:
- Checking on client’s progress and marking their follow-up as Quit or NOT Quit
- Measuring carbon monoxide (CO) to verify a successful quit attempt
- Advising about continued medication use and ensuring that the client knows where to obtain further supplies.
- Discussing cravings/urges to smoke that the client has experienced and how they can deal with them in the future.
- Discussing any difficult situations experienced and methods of coping and addressing any potential high risk situations in the future.
- Confirming the importance of the ‘not even one puff’ rule and prompting a commitment from the client.
- Congratulating the client on reaching 4 weeks quit…. Or potentially if the client can commit, starting a new episode/quit attempt.
