- Alternative nicotine delivery devices such as vaping products can play a vital role in reducing the health burden caused by cigarette smoking
- Quit attempts in stop smoking services that involved using a vaping product (alone or in combination with NRT) achieved success rates of 64.9%, compared with 58.6% for attempts not involving a vaping product.
- The proportion of the population using e-cigarettes is 9.1%, equal to 4.7 million adults in Great Britain (2023)
- 2.7 million (56%) are ex-smokers
- 1.7 million (37%) are current smokers
- The total proportion of young people aged 16 to 24 years who were daily or occasional vapers in 2022 increased to 15.5% compared with 11.1% in 2021.
