Physical Dependence
A smoker's addiction to nicotine will affect their capability to quit and create a physical dependence to smoking.
Cigarettes deliver a fast-acting hit of nicotine to the brain in as little as 7 seconds.
Rapid excretion of nicotine from the body causes withdrawal symptoms, which are quickly relieved by smoking, and this reinforces someone’s dependence.
Nicotine encourages the release of dopamine, providing the satisfaction related with smoking, and maintaining the nicotine addiction cycle.
